my 9 year old step daughter has been bugging me to make her a dress for her first day of school in two weeks.  we went to the store and she picked out the pattern herself. i had just went to the local goodwill and picked up a bunch of nifty looking bedsheets. she picked out her own as well. and then after dinner we sat down at my sewing table and 2 hours later ( after i had to sem rip out the skirt part, my fault i sewed it wrong =P) she had a first day of school dress!

i havent put on the straps yet she has decided whether she wants it as a halter or a tank

and the reason i love using sheets! pre hemmed!

i used this pattern View C size 10

Cute- I like the fabric!
You might want to check the school's dress code rules before deciding on the straps - I know the ones I worked at dont allow halter tops and require the straps to be pretty wide.  You dont want her to get in trouble on the first day or something!

Nice job! The sheets are so cute as a dress. I'd check the school's website for a dress code too. I know ours require straps to be two fingers wide. But either way, the dress and your daughter are adorable! Thank you for sharing!

Love it!  I wish I was as lucky as you when trying to scavenge for sheets.  I never find anything that looks this pretty!
