Ants on a Plate...and Spiders too...

i took my longtime love of ants and spiders and my complete dysfunction with actually making a ceramic plate and voila...i used plates from goodwill and the fantastic ceramic pen, Porcelain 150 to make my very own ant and spider plates.  this is my first time using a ceramic pen so be gentle.

That looks great! I got a porcelaine marker a while ago and just now found the opportunity to use it but the flow is very uneven! Did you have that same problem? Your images look so smooth and fluid...gah wish I knew what was going wrong. Great job though!

Love the ant plates.  Hate the spider plates, but that's just because I hate spiders.  Beyond my hate of spiders, you did a great job on them.

Love the Pebeo glass and ceramic paints.  I only recent started using the pens; have used the paint pots for years, but love love love the precision of the paint pens.

sheepblue: yep, they clog pretty consistently if you stop drawing at all. i had to keep wiping the tip and pushing down firmly on some paper towels to unclog them. i think it might just be an occupational hazard with these pens!

Yeah I found that out the hard way. I was trying to draw some text on a couple of cups. I wonder if drawing horizontally affected it as well since I was sitting up and not drawing against a table or something...You did a great job though. Maybe it just takes practice.

My fave is the first ant plate - I love that the black border looks like a magnifying glass... just so cool... well done!

i don't think that you could still eat off of the plates...that would be amazing though. i should do some research on that...

Actually, once you bake your painted plates in the oven, they're food safe. You can eat off them. I'd just recommend not using metal utensils because they can scratch the paint. But yeah, you can eat off them.

Hi,

I really love these!  I've tried with ceramic pens, and just couldn't use them - they went really blothcy and leaky, or not enough ink came out.  Maybe I just bought a bad pen - has anyone else had problems?!
