HeyVern
« on: August 09, 2009 09:24:35 AM »

We are meeting on Friday, August 21st at 7:00 to do crafty projects.

Book a Million  - outside tables
225-291-2135
10533 South Mall Drive
Baton Rouge, LA 70809
(off Siegen tucked away in a corner)

I hope you join us!! Bring a friend and learn something new.  Work on a craft and share tips.

I think a great portable craft is kanzashi.  You can do a search here and see a zillion pics of the flowers and how they can be assembled.

It's practically free, all you need is scrap fabric.

I'll bring scissors, needles, thread and glue.

Our first meeting last month went well.  There were 3 craftsters and 1 friend.

We plan on meeting every month (2nd to last fridays).

Great!  I can bring supplies too if you like.
What about the library?  I've read the guidelines on who can and can't use the meeting rooms, and I don't see how our group would pose a problem.  I could request an application.  I'll try to think of some other options today.

Weird.  I was just about to email you!

The library closes at 6:00 on Fridays. If anything else, we can always go back to Books a Million and use the outdoor tables.  I can bring a portable fan Smiley

You can bring scrap fabric and items you want to embellish with, like buttons.  I went to a thrift store and bought 2 ties for fabric and I have felt.

Hi guys Smiley  I just moved to BR recently and would love to join in.  I don't really know any good places around here to meet up yet, but you guys are welcome to come to my place.  Hubby and I just bought a big country house just out past University Club in Bayou Paul.  Wait, unless you're serial killers...are you serial killers?  Smiley Hope not!  Of course, I'm fine meeting someplace public as well.  Let me know when and where and I'll be there!

Hey Purly!

I revised my initial post to include the location. Bring scrap fabric for kanzashi, but if you don't want to make flowers, bring a craft your working on.

See you tomorrow!!

Welcome, Purly!  Hope to see you tomorrow at Books a Million.

Attention, BR area craftsters...I will bring edible goodies to our craft meet up!  If all goes well in the kitchen, they'll be homemade.

See you in crafty spirits tomorrow!

I cut my squares today and it took a bit of time so you may want to do yours ahead of time too.  I made mine 1 1/2" square.  Just remember, The smaller the square, the harder to fold.

I am REALLY hoping it's not too humid.  knock on wood.

Great!  I will bring a printed tutorial for one style of flower.  I've never done these before, so I thought having instructions handy would help...mostly so I don't bother HeyVern as much.   Wink

For those who didn't go...It did stop raining and we made kanzashi flowers

We're sticking with the plan to meet once a month.  The next meet up is Sept. 18th.

This sounds fun!  I'm sorry I missed the recent meet-up.  I will definitely try to make it to the Sept 18th meeting. I'll be out-of-town for work most of the week preceding the 18th, so I'm sure I'll be in desperate need of some crafting!

I'll keep you posted.  The next meeting will be at a house so we can have electricity.

I'm supposed to be at a wedding that night, but I'm really thinking of bailing.  I'd rather craft!  I hope to see you new folks there.

What are the thoughts of having a monthly get together but not on a set date?

There is no date so far where everyone is available, so should we move the date to the following week to Friday 9/25 so LostinBR can go to the wedding?  or keep the date, knowing full well that everyone can't make every meeting?

Michele , Are you available on the 25th??  Do you mind switching days.

It's a pain to get everyone together!!!

The 25th looks like the day.  and I think it will be at Purly's house (I'll find out this week) and then pm everyone on the list.
I'm obviously not putting home addresses here.

I'm looking forward to the meet-up!  Any idea how many folks will be there?  Should we bring snacks?

Our hostess, Corinne, said she will provide snacks but I suppose you can bring what you like.  I think there will be 4-5 people, unless others want to join in.

see you there.

Hey everyone.  I'm going to have to miss our meet-up tonight.  I have a family member with the flu. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can come out of this one unscathed- but want to avoid exposing anyone, just in case!

Hello, everyone!  We had a great time (and some great food!) at Craft Night.  Hope you and your family are feeling fine now, Yojimbo.
I can host this month if everyone's ok with that.  Which Friday works best for y'all so far?

Thanks for a great craft night, everyone!  You successfully braved the drive to the boonies. Smiley  Pretty much any Friday is fine with me, as long as I know in advance.

Anyone interested in another craft night?  I wasn't able to make the last one due to a majorly sucky migraine, but I'd love to do another one!
Maybe some holiday crafting?

We actually haven't met in a while.  I missed the last meeting due to a migraine (so awesome), and I don't think there's been one since.  I'm happy to host another craft night if there are any takers, but I live kind of in the boonies, so I don't know if it was too far for people to go...

Okay, I'm going to take the reins here and try to organize a little crafting get-together.  If you're reading this board, post the days/times that work for you, and I'll organize it.  I'm thinking maybe a Thursday or Friday evening...Any takers?

I only work 3 days per week, but of course Thursday night is one of them.  Geesh, just my luck.  Don't plan around me, but if your session falls on my day off, I'm interested.

Sorry it took me so long to respond.  I can do pretty much any night as long as I know in advance.  Perhaps a Friday night then?  Are you free anytime in the upcoming weeks?
