mmmmm this thread makes me hungry!

i second the praise for how it all vegan and the garden of vegan.  i've never made a bad recipe from either.  i make the easy breezy cheese sauce and mighty miso gravy (to go one the easy biscuits!) from h.i.a.v. all the time.

you can browse by type of cuisine! it's great.  again never made a bad recipe from here, and I used it all the time when i lived in a co-op.  even when i scaled the recipes to feed 60+ they all turned out terrific!

i've been vegetarian for almost 10 years and was strict vegan for about 7 of them....now i would say i'm veganish.  I try to eat dairy/eggs as minimally as possible, but do have them on occasion, esp. when travelling.  but i'm trying to move back towards pure veganism.  to that end i'm trying to create some vegan corn dogs, cause all the commercial ones have egg in them.  i found the following recipe on the web, but i haven't tried it yet since i don't want to deep fry.  does anyone have any ideas about alternative methods?  one of these days i'm going to experiment with baking and pan frying.  

6    tofu hot dogs or vegetarian hot dogs  
6    skewers  
1/2    cup yellow cornmeal  
1/2    cup flour  
1    teaspoon dry mustard  
1/2    teaspoon salt  
1    egg substitute  
1    tablespoon sugar  
1    teaspoon baking powder  
1/2    cup soy milk  
1    tablespoon melted shortening  

1.  Combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, mustard, baking powder and salt.  
2.  Mix well.  
3.  Add the soymilk, egg replacer and shortening and mix until very smooth.  
4.  Pour this mixture into a tall glass.  
5.  Put the dogs on the sticks and dip them into the cornmeal batter to coat evenly.  
6.  Deep fry in oil heated to 350 degrees until golden brown, about 2 minutes.  
7.  Drain on paper towels.
