I made this little easy bird toy for my sun conure, Peanut, after noticing how much he likes to munch my crocheted projects. I guess he really likes the yarn's texure and enjoys chewing and destroying it.

I didn't follow a set pattern, but to start out, I did 8 single crochet in a magic ring, then continued to increase 1 in every other stitch as I went around until it fit around the base of the peanut.

I just kept going in the round without the peanut inside, and eyeballed how deep I needed to make it.

Finally, I slipped the peanut in and continued to sc and cover the peanut, decreasing and skipping stitches until the peanut was enclosed!

My bird is obsessed with this thing. He really likes squishing the peanut through the yarn and trying to get little bits out of it. I think it would be pretty good for lots of different birds. I was thinking about my lovebird, and she's too little to hold anything with her feet, and probably can't bite something as big as a peanut. I'm thinking about crocheting a little pouch, filling it with tiny millet seeds and attaching it to her perch.

Bird toys are rare, but this is amazing. Lovely and simple, the way things should be.

I just need to downsize to budgie scale. Do let us know how the millet pouch goes.

That's awesome!  Parrots are so smart and they need something to keep them busy.  I'm sure Peanut loves this.  You're a good mommy!   Kiss
