Today I finally finished a baby coin quilt I started last summer but never finished. This quilt was made with scraps of amy butler's lotus collection that I had left over from two Brick Path Quilts that I made last Spring. The cream colored sashing is quilter's only cotton from Jo-Anns. The blue binding and backing fabric is also quilter's cotton. More information can be found on my blog: http://littlegraydog.blogspot.com/2009/08/baby-coin-quilt-finished.html

Ah ha!

I knew I had seen the tape method SOMEWHERE. I can't remember where, but you must have seen it too!

I love that quilt. I love how the coins have sashing between them. Soo pretty. I must try a top like that.

Thanks to you both. Before you try using tape (which worked fabulously for me since I can't sew a straight line) I would definitely recommend using painter's tape NOT masking tape. Although the tape stayed put, it was a struggle to take off the top and at several points I was pretty sure I was going to have the wash the unbound quilt and pray that the tape's glue would wash off so I could peal the rest of the tape off without ripping the top.

I actually used athletic tape... because I had it lying around and I was too cheap/lazy to go get artists tape. That worked fabulously (but I'm sure it's more expensive than artist's tape).

Very good to know that masking tape isn't the way to go, but painter's tape instead!  Smiley
