Hi everyone!!
I am thinking about moving to the Pensacola area since I have some family there. I own a well established greeting card and wedding invitation business in the Houston area and I want to make sure I am moving to an area that has a good arts and crafts following. If anyone has some advice or infomration for me, please pass it along!

1. I am looking for arts and crafts shows, like DIY stuff, within a 2 to 3 hour radius of Gulf Breeze/ Pensacola? Also, some annual shows that I might have to drive to but have a great DIY following.
2. I would like to join a crafting business group. Crafters who own their own businesses.
3. I would love to join a crafting group for fun, just some people to hang out with and try new crafting ideas. Something casual and laid back.

I want to know more about galleries in the area. Is there a fine arts scene?

Thanks for any information and check out my Etsy shop: http://apunkincardcompany.etsy.com

Amie

I'm in Enid, OK right now, but moving home to Crestview within the next week.  There are always craft fairs on the military bases...you've got NAS Pensacola, Hurlburt Field, and Eglin AFB right there within an hour of Pensacola or Gulf Breeze.  Destin has a lot of small boutiques that might be interested.  I think in May or June they do the big Bridal Fair out on Okaloosa Island.  The Greek Festival is coming up on Okaloosa Island in early September.  They have the Destin Seafood Festival and the Shark Rodeo.  If you are willing to go to Niceville, there's the Mullet Festival (celebrating the fish....not the haircut LOL)....tons of crafty goodness.  I've been gone for a year, so I haven't kept up with everything happening.

Check with the Convention and Visitors Bureau and they should have a lineup of all of the happenings.  I think you will really do well with all of the boutique type places in Pensacola, GB, FWB and Destin.

Thanks for all the info. I have looked on a few websites and there seems to be enough to keep me busy! Plus, I would love to start an Etsy group for that area.

Something to get the word out about handmade in Florida. Also, some crafty groups!

Thanks again...
