You did a great job!

Indeed you did love! Ronda said she should be starting sign ups in about a week and holding them for 10 or so days. WWP 15 (for Samhain- yaay!) is a normal sized WWP swap with 1 large, 1 medium and 2 smalls. Cheesy

I can't wait!

ellemir sent me the most beautiful Green Man shrine. Every detail is perfect for me and I am completely in love with it! There will be many pictures! Grin

Wonderful Oak leaves! This is the back

And the front

You slide the red fabric bead along the cords to reveal...

Two beautiful front panels which fold down to reveal a courtyard with fish pond and a flower filled meadow.

Inside resides a Green Man plaque which ellemir has made from polyclay. He's just wonderful and I love his expression!
The three panels contain images of the Green man from around the world. Each has a pocket made from a gauzy material (also printed with the images).

To light my shrine there is a mini glow stick, and ellemir also sent replacements for this.

The left pocket contains a tiny red silk bag containing wheat to represent the fertility of nature and the soil. The centre, dried bay leaves taken from the Green Man at this years Beltane rite. So wonderful! The third pocket contains a small silver Oak leaf on a beaded bracelet.

She also made me this wonderful Green Man, which I'm going to take with me on my travels. He's wonderful!

I have Oak leaves everywhere in my home, I'm a little obsessed, so this is just perfect! (It made me a little teary opening it.)

Thank you so much ellemir! Kiss

I'm so glad it arrived safely and you like it.

I love the photos. They are much better than mine which were taken inside. I might post a couple later, as I took some during construction, which might be of interest.

I'd love to see construction photos. It's very bright outside at the moment, but I was determined to take them out on the grass!

Thanks DanniQueen,
Pictures will follow when i can access the laptop hubbie is using. The camera doesn't like this PC.
The main box is made of cardboard covered in batting and silk. The pieces are then sewn together. The inside is slightly smaller pieces of silk again with thin batting in between and machine sewn together. This is a good point for machine embroidery. I then sewed the pieces together and used fabric glue to fasten the inside to the outside.
It's really quite a forgiving medium and as you wait to the end before assembling, you can get rid of mistakes without too much trouble.
I was originally inspired by a book on making books, and one on embroidered fabric boxes. This boxes structure resembles that of one from the second book, but the decoration is all my own. Her boxes dont use cardboard and I much prefer a more rigid structure.
