When I first read about this challenge, I thought of making a mosaic from jolly ranchers. I had been to TJ Maxx earlier in the day, and saw some cute sea-inspired mosaics, and I thought it was super cool. I had never tried them before, but figured it would be worth a shot. So enough chit-chat, here is the outcome.

On the kitchen table!

On the dinning room table!

Here it is unfinished. I drew the image I wanted onto a piece of cardboard, then I would cover small areas at a time with white frosting, break up the jolly ranchers, and stick 'em on.

Oh, PS, the sprinkles coming from the bottom part is NOT dragonfly poop. It's happy draonfly magic sparkles.  Grin

Am so glad you cleared up the dragonfly magic part! We wouldn't want to think otherwise...

I love your mosaic. What a lot of beautiful work. You make me want to make one!

I love the look - how did you manage to break up the jolly ranchers? Those things are rather thick!

I thought about this challenge and was thinking along these same lines (a giant stained glass cookie rather than mosaic but jolly ranchers were involved Smiley ) I am glad to see someone else went there  -- now I know how it works without having to do it myself Smiley

I stuck them on some waxed paper and put them in the oven, but they stuck to the waxed paper, so then I tried parchment, which worked nicely. Then once they melted, I let them re-harden, and broke them up. It was sticky, but fun. =)

Oooooh! A lickable mosaic! Most excellent way to use those candies up! It is very cool. Love the colour combination!
