Well, technically a second and third attempt- my first is a little embarrassing.

Anyway, being off of school for the summer (it's my first summer not taking classes. Woo!) i'm blowing through my craft supplies at super sonic speeds! I've recently been on a jewery kick but have never really touched my collection of seed beads. I bought them in 8th grade and haven't so much as sniffed at them since. But, I ran out of earwires and bracelet toggles and all of the sudden tiny beads looked a lot more interesting! So I browsed the beading forum and found some french beaded flowers and fell madly in love. These are by no means as exceptional as the ones here, but I'm not too embarrassed for a first attempt.

Onto the pictures!

This one's going on a friend's ringbearer pillow.

This one's my favorite. :.)

Both together

So what do you think? I know i've got a lot to learn, but aside from basic leaf making I couldn't find too much else on the 'net. Any one know of good sites?

I'd love to have hair clips like that; these are very pretty.

Nice first couple of attempts! Mine were horrific. I still mean to remake all my first attempts (ie, every new piece I try!) but run out of time...

Your round petals are pretty tight for a beginner. Nicely done.

There are links to four french beading websites with free tutorials on my website: http://www.sculpturalbeading.com/other-artists-links.html as well as my other favorite french beaded flower and other beading sites showing examples and selling patterns, if you want to look Smiley

Thanks, all! they are actually a whole lot of fun to make. Way easier than I thought it would be, anyway.

Here's the tutorial I used for the leaves. I had a whole lot of trouble finding any other information regarding the process, so if you want to know anything I'll be happy to share my limited knowledge!  The tute doesn't say it, but to put the leaves together in a flower you just twist all the stems together. I found it looks best if you twist two or three together separately and then twist those bundles together- it makes everything tighter.

Thanks for the link, amy! I know what i'm doing for the next hour or so. Wink

I just looked, and its because for some reason it didn't hyperlink the 'l' on html. Should work if you just copy and paste it in your browser. Hope that helps!
