so honestly, this dress was a pain in the ass. i think it came out alright, but took lots of doing and redoing.and more ironing and pinning than i've ever done before! i don't have the before picture, but it was just a very large men's button-down shirt, with a pretty lavender gingham pattern. sorry, no tutorial on this one, although i'm happy to answer questions and whatnot- i basically took the thing apart at the seams and built the dress almost from scratch, making it up as i went along.
     
i made the straps from the strip that was the buttonholes, which made them nice and even.
 

the back took forever, and for some reason wouldn't work as just a zip-up-- so now it zips AND laces and it's a two-person job to get the thing on. oh well.
so that's it! i might make a built-in petticoat thing to hold the skirt out a little. and fix that weird seam in the back. thanks for looking! i think i'm taking a little sewing break now...
