so its summer and i've been spending most of my free-time raiding goodwill and family members closets haha. i came up with a few really cute ideas and whipped these three items up last night/this morning. let me know what you think!
this first one is an old t-shirt of my dads. the color was still really solid without much fading so i turned it into a strapless dress for summer. he couldn't believe it was actually his old shirt when he saw it! lol

and this one is from a men's t-shirt i snagged from goodwill for .99! wooo!

The sundress is my absolute favorite!  How did you make it?

thanks! it's my favorite too:)
i got bored this evening so i put together a mini-tute for you. i hope it makes sense!
1.start with a big shirt (i used men's L in the first, but for this one its a men's medium so it came out a bit shorter)

2.cut off sleeves and collar of the shirt. turn the shirt part inside out and trim it down so that the top part measures a little bit bigger than the width under your breasts and the bottom part flares out. my chest size for the shirt was 16 inches.

3.then cut your sleeves open along the "long fold" so that they look like this. this will be your chest piece.

4. then place the open sleeves on top of eachother, right sides together, and trim those down so that the bottom part of the chest piece is as wide as the top of your skirt
5. then you just sew the chest piece on to the top of your skirt and voila!

and if you want you can add a little loop to gather the material in the chest piece like i did here

hope that helps! i know it was a short tute so let me know if i need to clear anything up.

Grin  Thanks for the tute!!!  I have a shirt of my husband's that I will try this on tonight.  That tute is straightforward so I shouldn't have any problems.  I am sending a big hug to you for this!!!

This is super cute! I made one myself today following your tutorial. I cut the sleeves and sewed them on a bit differently though. I'm a D-cup, so the way you did it wasn't enough room for me. I cut them so they angled down in the back and juuuuust meets in the middle, but the front has lots of room for boobs. Might post some pics later.

Thanks, this was fun! First thing I've sewed in a long time.
