Here's a collaboration between my daughter and me.  She has the knack for homemade pie crust so I leave that to her.  After rolling it out and putting the bottom crust in we filled it with 9 cups (3 lbs) of granny smith and Jonagold apples, a cup of dark brown sugar, a few tablespoons of flour, 1 tsp of cinnamon and 1/2 tsp nutmeg.  Popped the top crust on, slit it all around, gave it an egg wash and sprinkled with sugar then baked for about 45 minutes. (425 for 15 minutes and 375 for the rest of the time.)  It's delicious!  (Would have gotten a shot of the inside but we brought it to a dinner party and I didn't have a chance. Smiley

Sure!  I think the trick is to handle it as little as possible!  Its very flakey and tender!

Pie Crust
2 cups flour
2/3 cups Crisco
1 tsp salt
4 - 6 Tbsp. water

Cut Crisco into flour/salt.  Add water slowly, mixing with a fork until it just starts to hold together[/i].

Roll between two pieces of waxed paper. Peel off the top piece and flip it into your pie plate!  Makes two.

Oh my goodness!!  Hope I catch you in time!  That's 9 CUPS (3 lbs) of apples - not 9 POUNDS!!  Good grief! Shocked  I also added the oven temp.  Good luck - you're gonna love it!
