When I saw the challenge for this month I was so excited! I've really been wanting to try making a cake with fondant so I figured now would be a great time to do it. And when I thought of which craft to do I knew it would be cross stitching since I have a small obsession with it right now ^_^. I made the cake from scratch with a simple recipe I had and then made my first batch of marshmellow fondant ever. I thought it would be really hard to pull of but it's surprisingly simple. It did end up being a huge mess thought! After I covered the cake I rolled out sections of pink fondant and cute small sections to be the thread. Then I got each piece slightly wet with water so it would stick to the white fondant. It took me about 3 hours to complete the whole thing but it was worth it! Plus it tasted really good! Now...the pictures!

Finished cake

Me "stitching" ^_^

And the cake with a piece gone. The moment I was done with the cake and pictures my fiancee insisted on trying it.

Thanks for looking! Hope you liked it. =^_^=

I did not realise it was a cake until the last picture, then I gasped that some one had come along and "wrecked" it!!  What a wonderful piece.  You did a great job. The stitching was amazingly straight for such wiggly stuff to work with.

Great job! Never thought to crosstich frosting on a cake like you did. Love how you made a heart with your design.

That's so cute!

Do you know what your fondant recipe was? Also, any tips for rolling it out or putting it on? I'm about to dive into the world of fondant, but I'm a bit nervous.
