I found the original pattern for one square on www.crochetme.com.  I adapted it a bit.  The 'pattern' for the whole blanket is my own interpretation.  The blocks are not all identical.  The order of the colours changes to make up the 4-pointed designs.  I had to keep my brain switched on while doing it!  Smiley
I have to say, although I came up with the diagram for the blanket I would never have designed the original block.  All credit goes to the original designer at crochetme.

That's just freakin' awesome!  I love it!  I saw a story in Interweave Crochet this month about making spirals that peaked my interest but this has just added fuel to the fire!  I love those colors!  Great work!   Cheesy

That is really beautiful!  I love spirals, and the colors you used are just lovely - you must have patience to do all of those changing squares.  Great job & thanks for linking to the spiral block, I may have to try this!

Wow! I absolutely love the spiral/granny square combo! And it does look quite snuggly...what kind of yarn did you use (wool, acrylic, cotton, etc)? Great job!!
