I decided to try making tooth pillows this past weekend.

The boy's monster design came too me quickly but the girl's design took forever to come to me. I guess I need to sacrifice more Godiva to my Creative Muse. lol

To tuck in the tooth, you open the monster's mouth and the purse flap.

Hehe - cuteness personified (monsterfied?  pursified?).  The thinking for the girl's gift was well worth it.  I haven't used daisy or chain stitch since I got my sewing badge at guides (a long time ago) - but this project has made me look at them differently... hmmmm.

How much is hand stitched and how much machined?

On the girl's purse, I machine stitched the sides and along the top to help hold the flap down. Then I used chain stitch to cover up the machine work. I used to do historical reenactment for many years and it was a major no no to let machine stitching show. (I came really close to covering it up on the monster but then it would have looked too girly!) Some habits die hard. LOL

I also became an embroidery snob thanks to my reenactment hobby. It wasn't until just recently I put those two stitches back into my repetoire.  Grin
