That sounds like a really fun wedding, congratulations Smiley. The dress turned out beautifully and the shoes and necklace were really nice touches Smiley.

Stop being so damned positive. Staring at the sun only blinds some one. By only looking at the positive, you miss an entire beautiful world of shadows and colors. Don't be overly negative, be realistic. The world is so much more complex and beautiful that way.

the dress is overall awesome!! just an FYI with sewing you can do whatever you want.  you could have put boning in the front ad side by making casing out of the fore mention.  i would love to see another dress with the tip i just gave you.  ohhh please use the covered boning.  i learned this the hard way!!

The dress is amazing. As a college student, cheap fabric is always nice fabric in my eyes, but I'd say that fabric was worth the $40/yard, especially since it made for a stunning wedding dress!

Congratulations to you two! You both look very happy

I love it! It looks so nice on you, and I love the blue sash and shoes. Really different, yet gorgeous.
Congratulations on the wedding!! And I really like the picture of you two on the escalator.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

I had planned on putting boning in the dress, and I did the first go-around - the go-around with the bodice gaping issues.  At that point I said to hell with it, threw out the lining with the boning in it, re-made the lining and just make the bodice as snug and it needed to stay up.

When I think about how much time it made to make such a simple dress I shake my head and laugh. It was all I talked about for a month and people's comments to me were along the lines of, "Now you know why people pay so much money for wedding dresses."

It's kind of true.  A number of times I thought about saying f-it and going and getting something from some store, but I'm glad I stuck it out.  I have a one of kind wedding dress that I put my heart into

First, congratulations!  You guys look so fantastically happy!

Second, that pattern looks strikingly like Butterick 4443, and if you wanted to make a similar dress, but try out a different pattern (they have a sleeveless one, too) you might like it better.  The lining instructions look funky, if you're doing the sleeveless one, but once you get the technique, it's brilliant!
