5 pieces knitted on size 7 needles in worsted weight yarn. size 9 needles for the handles. i worked out a keyboard chart first, then worked up the dimensions thereafter.

i was teetering on the idea of adding embroidery to emphasize the white keys, but i'll probably leave it alone so it won't look too busy.
i used plastic canvas for the bottom, front, and back of the purse. i didn't want it to be so...boxy, which is why i avoided stiffening the sides.
the cute wittle buttons. originally, i was to use these to secure some flaps, but nixed the idea.

sorry they're so large, but the numbers are pretty tiny. also, add 2 stitches of MC to each side for sewing together later.
you could also knit this in the round by making a few minor adjustments. i've never knitted in the round before, but i'm pretty sure this could be done.
Materials size 7 & 9 ndls, one skein each of black and white worsted weight yarn, two or three pieces of plastic canvas, tapestry needle, and your choice of fabric/lining.
Front:
remember the two added stitches on each side in MC.
with MC, CO 55 sts.
Row 1-10: work in stockinette
Row 11: cont. in St st while working the black keys on the charts
Row 28-38: cont. in St st w/CC; these are just the white keys
Row 39-40: w/ MC
BO
Back:
w/ MC, CO 55 sts
Row 1 -40: work in stockinette
BO
Sides (make 2):
w/ MC, CO 20 sts
Row 1 - 40: work in stockinette
BO
Bottom:
w/MC, CO 55 sts
Row 1 - 20: work in stockinette

Straps:
w/MC and size 9 ndls, CO 12 sts
i sorta guessed here. you can knit it however long you want your handles to be, switching it to white in the middle whenever you want, etc.
MAN, THAT WAS EASY.
now, assembling the sucka' is a different story. stitch'n'bitch nation helped out in this process.
having measuring tape would help out a lot, too.

measure your Front & Back pieces and cut the plastic canvas accordingly. also, measure the side pieces.
those cute little x's are the canvas, yes; the spaces are the sides of the bag. make sure your fabric is facing WRONG-side up (lighter blue). fold over the edges so the right-side shows and SECURE them with paperclips or pins. tip: make sure you have enough fabric on the very right so you can overlap and paperclip it according to side measurement.
sew the Front, Back, & two Sides together (if you haven't by now), & slip it over your canvas/lining WHILE also fixing the paperclips/pins to hold the knitted piece to your interior. with your yarn and tapestry needle, start sewing them together. attach straps aaaaand you're done!
hopefully, i'm not too confusing.
edit: forgot about the bottom piece. you basically just follow the some procedure with the canvas/lining and sew it to the bottom of the bag.
