For some reason, about a week and a half before the Americana -themed Skin Two North Ball, I decided that it would be a great idea to make a costume - a majorette costume no less!
I'll try and upload my original sketch for the costume at some point and a picture of the back so you can see the beautiful red ribbon lacing but for now here are some photos:

This is me in a giant yellow stiletto! I made the corset, the shoulder epulet and my baton. Bought the boots, skirt and shorts.

This is me and my friend Liz - military style - and you can just about see the red bow of the lacing poking out the bottom...and the weird flat white boots in all their glory. I was going to add some fringing or pom-poms to them but didn't have time.

It didn't go as smoothly as I planned: my sewing machine broke down and I has to stitch the bias binding to the top and bottom of the corset by hand (OW! Sore fingers!), didn't get time to add all the cord and button detail to the front and I ended up hat-less because there was nothing that seemed to be quite right. But as you can see from my inane grin I was pretty happy with how it turned out, my corset fit and my feet were comfy all night!

Let me know what you think xxx K
