I'm hoping hanging out here will help me get into gear.  My 3yr old dd decides the costume theme and this year ...drum roll please...TMNT (too funny when I read the first post graverobbergirl)  So now I have to make hers - jump suit style I think, front zipper, simplicity has a turtle costume (Mikey) I think would be a good jumping point, I'm thinking jacket/hoodie for the Hubby and I (Leo and Don) and masks ect, jeans as it will be dark.  The person who was going to be Ralph may now have to work, so I'll have to figure something out.  Oh, the Jack Russell (Max, our pest dog, he's larger than normal) is going to be Master Splinter.  I'm thinking just a Kimono, hey, he's got the nose for it.  My daughter is so excited about this.

I picked up some white sheets at the thrift store and I plan to dye them (green ones and yellow ones) as well as the hoody I found for me (hope it takes the dye, we'll see) to  make the shells.  Can't get into the craft room right now, Hubby promises to clear his mess tomorrow.  yea Halloween!!!!!

KStaron *waves*  What about spats over your shoes with buttons on them and all?

Dragonflywer - There's a neat tute for coffee filter roses that look pretty real, what about those?

I've spaced and can't remeber who's doing the Cheshire cat - but what about knitting/crocheting stripped leg warmers?

Everyone's ideas look so neat.  Love the Victorian stuff.
thats me with the chesire.. look a few posts above i got these awesome socks that reach real high.. i'm also currently knitting some arm warmers with this awesome furry purple i got.. but i am using very small needles so it is taking a long time..

at the dollar store i saw these awesome striped pink and black tights but they were almost out of stock and all that was left were small sizes... but the other dollar store has a huge area with halloween so i'l check there...

still iffy about the costume.. anyone want to motivate me?

My little girl's costume is all set and mine is so close to being done.  I made my mini witch hat of the same fabric I'm using for the corset.  Corset is almost done, need two more gallon jugs for the plastic pieces...the milk is almost gone.  Wink   I upscaled vegbee's kid's peasant top to my size. I went with a black body and red sleeves.  All's that's left is the corset and boots, well now they're going to be spats!

Feywalker, you always have such good ideas!  I have a great pair of velvet pumps with the right look to them, adding spats might just do the trick.

I made my first solid step towards my Harley Quinn (Arkham Asylum version) costume - I picked up 3 metres of some sturdier off-white mystery fabric from the $1.97/metre bin at Walmart for my pleated skirt. I'm thinking of doing two layers.

Luvley-Your Cheshire will rock, just keep with it! Wink

I got a very lovely break on the time front today.  There was a sale at Burlington's and I got 2 possible costume skirts for $10, which takes hours off of my required time so I can actually make spats for existing boots!   Grin  Yippee for saving money!  Have to dye the skirt, but as I was going to dye other things anyway, that is still a plus.

Also, found out I need to make two felt wigs for this Sunday...There are problems when your family knows that you can make things Roll Eyes  Do y'all think something like this tutorial would work for people....Obviously with a cap of somekind underneath? http://www.jlauportfolio.com/hairtutorial/hairtutorial.html  Any ideas?

Luvly - Your Cheshire Cat Costume sounds like it is going to be amazing, keep with it!

Goldfish - I think that would work with a cap.  Maybe you could use the foot end of a large pantyhose for the cap that way it doesn't add bulk.  I'd love to know if it works, as it looks awesome in the tute.  Wonder how that'd look on a poppet? hmm...

here are the things
ignore the scrunchie around the ears

and in case my hair poofs up to much or it starts raining i made this scrunchie out of purple fur yarn

and  i made this temporary tattoo to keep me motivated

(i can show a tute for temporary tattoos if you want)(its on my belly the picture makes it look as though its on my but or something)

here's the sad part.. i was knitting in front of the tv and i got up for a minute to put my cup on the kitchen table, leaving my knitting on the coffee table for 30 seconds. i cam back to my yarn dragged all around the house. in a million huge knots. after 2 and a half hours i managed to save most of it. but there was still a lot that i couldn'r fix. and i had to cut of my knitting right at the begininng.
2 and a half hours.
Sad

Finished the wig... it isn't for a halloween costume, but I thought y'all might like to see how it turned out.  Forgive the colors, I had the camera set to VIVID on accident. Embarrassed

It still needs sideburns, but the goose is happy with it.  I used what I had on hand which turned out to be the sleeve of a t-shirt and some scrap fleece. Smiley  Cheap is nice.
