heart-My friend is going to be Ziva! (Abby is more fun for dressing up though, I think). It took about half-a-dozen stops but we finally hunted down a good toy combat knife and gun (which needs spray-painting). Stores apparently don't carry 'cop' play sets anymore...

psyche-I think the blouse looks great (even without the 'cleavage'). And I like that your skirt's blood splatter isn't too overwhelming.

luverlycritter-Don't knock out too many walls...

remodeling...walls...funny!

Oh and Abby is such an awesome costume! You have to show off your homemade Caf-pow. I was devastated when I found out that they don't exist!

I did some more work today, so I'm reporting in!

The necessary Harley Quinn picture link for just-joiners: http://www.nerdsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/harley-quinn-arkham-asylum.jpg

I finished up the mask....

BEFORE - plain mask from Michael's.

AFTER - Shiny purple, nose-less and slightly different shaped Harley mask. Still need to figure out how to get it to stick on my face. Anyone had experiences with spirit gum?

And... here's the wig I need to work on switching up.

I also worked on boot covers. Really heavy interfacting + cheap fabric + my big lace-up goth boots... it's coming along. I've decided to be lazy and just duct tape up the backs in corresponding colours though!

Still to do:
- finish boot covers
- make "corset" (with "Boost-i-vest" Tutorial)
- dye smaller gloves purple
- make or buy nurse hat
- fix up wig
- make nametag
- skull cane (the OTHER costume, Baron Samedi)

Spirit gum should do the trick, though it usually likes to have something to grip onto. False facial hair usually has a net backing, and the spirit gum seeps through and firmly stabilizes it. I would give it a try. Just make sure you test a little on your arm or something first, I have seen some nasty spirit gum allergic reactions. And don't forget to get the spirit gum remover! (It truly is the best way to get that tacky stuff off!)

Making Halloween costumes sounds exciting! At first I wanted to make a Minnie Mouse costume, but looking around I've found a lot of grey and brown fabric. So I thought, what about a raccoon or Totoro?

This year my town is having Halloween Trick or treating on Thursday because of the football game schedule. (We are big about football). So I wanted to make a cutesy costume to take my little sisters out.  DH and I are also working at a haunted hayride which calls for another set of costumes entirely!

Going to my favorite vintage store today to see if I can score something appropriate for my librarian getup! Exciting! Then the boy and I are going to go see if we can piece together things for his Beyonce single ladies outfit from Goodwill and Target. I have my fingers crossed that we find something for him to use as the glove. I am going to take a cue from others here and make up a check list (how splendidly organized).

Librarian
Glasses-own/buy (have my normal pair, but will check for a dorkier pair)
Glasses chain- need to make
Pencil skirt - buy
sultry twinset- buy
or
fabulous wiggle dress- buy
seamed nylons- own
amazingly cute t-strapped heels- buy (found the perfect ones at Target!)
book purse- make

Beyonce
Leotard- buy (possibly need to alter to make it one sleeved)
some very large heels- buy
wig- buy
nylons- own
something to use as the glove..a transformers costume glove?- buy/make
small voice recorder to play back 'single ladies' all night- own!

So excited! I will update when I get back from shopping today.

I'm going as truth or dare with a friend Smiley. We're planning on making matching capes, one white with TRUTH in blue or silver applique, and the other black with DARE in red/gold, and carrying boxes full of truth/dare questions, and a big spinner. Not sure what we'll wear under the capes though, or whether there'll be time to do it all...:p
