I've been plagued by the weekend blahs. Yesterday I was in a particularly nasty funk, which called for some major-league cute crafting to cure.

So, I pulled out my new copy of "Softies" -- which I snagged as a b-day gift to myself a couple weeks ago -- and whipped up this adorable little party cake.

It's all hand stitched, made of equal parts craft felt and pure cuteness. It was also a major bonus that I had all the right supplies on hand! I'm pretty pleased with how it came out, especially for being my first real softie/toy project.

Top view...a little lopsided:

Thanks for looking!

This is cute and so well made. I love it and I don't even like pink that much.

It looks just like the one in the book!  Great job!  (I love that book, too!)

I love how sweet and dainty the cake looks.  I'd never thought of making a felt cake...

I love it! I can just picture you making like...a whole little arsenal of adorable felt cakes and cupcakes. Great job, especially for your first time. I'm envious. =)

Thank you, everyone!  Smiley

I was totally amazed I actually had the stuff at home to make the same little pink cake from the book. I never have all the stuff on hand to make a project from a book! I thought for a while I was gonna have to make a red and white one...and I actually may next time...Wink
