I am absolutely in love with the Marauders map. I actually don't know why, but out of all Harry Potter related crafts, I've crafted things related to the Marauders Map the most.

And since I want to learn how to crochet, I needed a needle case for my crochet hooks. So instead of focusing on how to crochet something I made a needle roll. The fact it was based on the Marauder's Map has everything to do with my excitement for the Harry Potter Swap that is now open for entry. It's my first swap and all.

But without further ado, here are the somewhat crappy photo's..

This is the front.

Without the string.

Folded open.

I used a white cotton and dyed it with Tea and Coffee and then drew the Marauder's Map on by hand with a fabric marker.
It is quite small, so in comparison to the real Map there are somethings missing, but I still like it!

I know what you mean.  I love the map.  It's so cool.  I haven't done any crafts for it though.  I figure I'll spend time on it and then it'll look stupid.
You did a really good job.  It looks fantastic.

For a moment I totally thought you had found the best fabric ever, but then I read that you'd done that yourself  Shocked It's looks so professional. I love that you made it for something practical. Keep up the Potter crafts!

Thank you for featuring me in your blog Smiley That's so nice of you, Archerpren. By the lack of money, I couldn't buy that pillow, besides it lacks a little originality, even though I secretly still love it. So what's a girl to do?

I also want to thank all the others for their nice comments!

This is really cool, but more than anything else about it, I love that you dyed it with tea and coffee (I will feel very foolish if I've misunderstood...)!!!  It looks perfectly "aged" without looking grimy, which is great, because I can actually steal that idea, and use it on a few things I've had in mind, too!  Anyway, I love it!

You didn't misunderstand. I've let it soak in tea and coffee for a few hours, scrunched up so it would age properly.

I would reccommend it, its very easy.

Well, I used a fabricmarker, which was pretty tricky, seeing as it was a big tipped marker and I had to make very small lines at some point.

And the size unfolded is about the same size as an a4 piece of paper.
