I wanted to give my mother something special for her birthday so I bought her white terry cloth bath robe and got my gf to teach me how to cross stitch so I could put her initials on it.

First a picture of my lovely gf modelling the bath robe

Close up of the cross stitch.
It's a little bit off centre but it was my first try.

Welcome to craftster. It is so nice to see more male craftsters on here. I can't do cross stitch, but that looks like a luxury hotel robe, and I'm sure you mum will love it.

Yey for men with needles! It's great gift, but now that you've learned you should keep making stuff to show us all.

I intend to!  I just bought a couple of cross stitch kits to start with and get used to doing it before I move on to something more complicated or my own patterns.  Cheesy

Then we can't wait to see more, and your pretty model. Does she craft? Can we assimilate her?

Thank you all so much for your kind words and your encouragement.  I bought a couple of small cross stitch samplers at the weekend, one of which I've finished.  I'm going to do an alphabet-thing after them, then start trying my own pictures and other fun things.

My pretty model was the one who assimilated me, lol!!  Lovesclutter, you'll know her as Little Blue Girl in the Pimp My Username swap.  I just wanted to know more about what she was interested in and I got (crochet)hooked!!
