I saw this post on Craftzine the other day about making an anti-boredom tin for a child, well it is my lovely boyfriend's 31st birthday next week and he has a new harmonica coming but I wanted a surprise for him to open.

Neither of us drive and so spend a fair amount of time on public transport, and he's fairly arty so I thought an anti-boredom box would be nice for him to throw in his bag!

Here it is (it's made from a smoking tin, that used to say "rizla" on the front, not so great so it's covered up for now and I have a few days to find an exciting picture to put on it!)

first peek when you look in:

inside:

Inside we have a little notepad, a mini propeller pencil, mini felt tips, a teeny pack of cards, some stickers and a small packet of bouncing putty.

And if all that fails there is a picture of his wonderful girlfriend (me!  Wink) to gaze at lovingly inside the lid

haha

What do you think?

This sounds like a great idea, I think that I'll try and do something similar for my girlfriend for Christmas.  Cheesy

That's a great idea, love the stuff you put inside. I wonder what he'll do with the bouncing putty on public transport?

That's so fun! I hope he doesn't get pegged as a graffitti artist with those ink pens on the transport! You'll have to refresh it from time to time with little suprises, and special notes. K

Very clever, but the front needs something. Next time use some nice paper w/a pic or design on it or type out "(boyfriend's name) Anti-Boredom Tin" before you stick on the paper (you still can do either of these & paste it on).

Thanks for the nice comments :-)

And don't worry little me, I have over a week to find something nice for the front, and it will have something added, I just don't know what yet :-)

That is SUCH a good idea! I have an hour commute everyday to my work, this box would make my travel time MUCH more enjoyable.

Very cool. My little wheels are turning as I eyeball a collection of mint tins and think about all the classroom projects I might do with them....
