I agree that its a cool idea, but not quite there yet. There's something off about the background, and I really like the idea of having some small food on the plate. Sushi could be pretty, maybe.

As is... I wouldn't buy it.  It looks like you just glued your place setting to a board. 

But I think the concept has potential as decor in a cafe or something like that.

Play around with themes, coordinate the backgrounds with the plates (maybe a painting that starts on the plate but carries on to the background).  Add a few more details / objects.  Just play around for a while and see what you come up with.
