Thank you everyone for your encouraging comments!  If anyone wants to use this idea, go for it!  It's so much fun.  Someone on Ravelry said they're going to make an 8-bit Link!

I'm working on a question mark block slipcover for a cube ottoman now, I'll be sewing this one by machine though 
Hopefully some day there will be an entire Mario theme in the apartment! 

We have these wall decals in our bathroom already (http://i32.tinypic.com/zmh5cn.jpg), I think that's what prompted me to keep the theme going
