Hello everyone!  This is the first project I've posted on Craftster (he's on my Ravelry page now).  It is a 7x7ft 8-bit Raccoon Mario rug!  This is my bf's birthday present  Smiley

He's made of 386 granny squares, each one representing 1 pixel (3.5" each) that makes up Raccoon Mario.  I learned to crochet in February by watching youtube videos and recently watched another video for granny squares and got started on this project right away.  I had originally thought that it would take me over 1 month to complete if I made about 10 granny squares per day.

Box stacked with granny squares...

I finished him in 15 days (approx. 120hrs put in)!  It took 13 days to complete all the individual granny squares, then 2 days to sew them all together.  I made an Excel spreadsheet with columns and formulas detailing the number of granny squares needed for each color, then used this to track my daily progress (like a true geek, haha) and motivate me to keep out-doing myself.

The bf loves it!  I hope you guys do too...I was afraid to post this because I just saw Gege's Super Mario Obsession blanket, and this one's no where close to being as RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING.  Thanks for any feedback and responses you guys may have.  I hope I still did a good job though... Smiley

This is one of the best crochet projects Ive ever seen on this site.  AND for a beginner AND in 15 days.  i'm wowed.

If it had grown up, it would have made a dreadfully ugly child; but it makes rather a handsome pig, I think.

E.T.A. I forgot to ask, what yarn did you use?

Thank you for all the nice comments!  I felt kind of intimidated posting another Mario related project here after Gege's blanket.  Tongue

Yes go right ahead!  I used Vanna's Choice since it was on sale 5 for $10, haha.  I should add that each skein of yarn made exactly 17 granny squares (sometimes 18 if I were lucky!) so I bought a little over 20 total.
