I always wanted a lamp above our dining table, not only a spot light coming from somewhere.
My Ma works at a glaziery and she gave me about 150 samples of acrylic glas, some of theme transparent some opaque. They already had holes drilled in. So I went to my favorite Turkish store and bought a round aluminium baking tray (3,99€), drilled twice as many holes in as needed (just because...), broke my fingernails when I twirled the keyrings - I once bought hundreds for almost nothing when they closed down "our" metal goods store -  onto the acrylic glas patterns and these onto the tray.
Before I had a round hole sawed into the middle of the tray in which the old lamp holder fitted.
Finally my man surprised me with a lovely gift: a chain so that we could hang the lamp nice, save and adjustable.
And here it is:

It makes me happy both night and day.
