Sorry if this has been posted before - I didn't have time to read all 18(!) pages. I came across this tonight: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=7746&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=77&iSubCat=78&iProductID=7746

Your versions are better! (and a lot more fun than plain old leather) Smiley

Wowowowow!  Oh man, for my drama class, this girl brought a BRIGHT PINK old school fanny pack, and everyone was just laughing like crazy... but this one!  Now this is not one of those hideous fanny packs Wink  You have the cutest fabric, too!!!

By the way, this is sort of off topic, but you live in Japan?  Where?  I moved to the US last summer, oh, how I miss Japan Cry

Thank you! I live in Osaka, Japan right now. But will be making my way back to Tokyo again. My heart belongs to Japan...where did you live?
I'm a dork and didn't see this until...... well, just now.  I lived in Yokohama for the most part.  I'm considering getting a friend of mine to hunt down cute fabric for me... I've already asked someone to get me some Japanese jewelry, tee-hee  Cheesy

I just looked through all of these posts and I had to say: I love this idea! There's no way I could pull it off.... it's not really my style, but I love them! All of the fabrics everyone used were really cool. I think that's what makes them better than the 1980s windbreaker-material fanny packs. And then, obviously, there's the name: The Hipslinger. It just doesn't get much cooler than that.

I'm determined to make this one day!

I usually end up with just my id and lipgloss when going out because I HATE carrying a purse (can't dance with one!) but this is the perfect alternative. Smiley

Viva La Hipslinger Revolucion Y'all!!!

I put loops on mine so I could put it on different belts.

And a closeup of the flap. I tried to add some western flair. I am a Texan after all  Roll Eyes

I hate carrying stuff too. I am so pumped to not have to anymore! w00t! Thanks for the great idea!

Fanny packs are all the rage in Boston right now. At my work there is a large international population and all the cute asian girls  have one.
I am so making myself one for those days you hate carrying a purse.

i made one too!  material is a vintage bedsheet and lined with the same, trimmed with some cutwork eyelet lace.  girly!

mine ties on with a bow for the time being, but i have intent to sew two d-rings on one strap's end to make it cinch-able and non-snatch-able.

I am going to an amusement park next week - and I needed something that I could wear on the rollercoasters, so my lipgloss/etc wouldn't fall out of my pockets.
Your hipslinger is perfect!
I added a zipper and am not finished with the belt part.  I will go to the store tomorrow for velcro - the kind I have is too thick for sewing and has glue on the back.

Thanks for the tutorial!!
