So how do y'all decide on what colour to use for your quilting thread? I've recently found myself in a bit of a rut, always seeming to choose a mid-grey, gunmetal or off-white. Do you pick a colour that's complimentary? contrasting? Whatever comes to hand? What factors go into your decisions?

Thanks for starting a really interesting thread!!

For me it depends on what I want to highlight.  On a fall leaf quilt, I selected dark brown to quilt in a swirl design (quilted by a pro) so the quilting would show nicely on the light background and look like wind blowing.  On another, I chose an ecru so the quilting would show best on the dark colors in the quilt.  Or, if I just am using a meander to get it done, I'll choose a neutral that won't stand out on either the light or the dark.  It really depends on what you want your final look to be.

Hope that helps. Grin
