Another idea for a prom dress! but how?

I submitted one idea earlier on,
and here's another.
I know for now is that i want something short-ish, i've been eyeing togas, and that i want to be different
usually everyone wears black to their prom, plus sewing my own dress would be wow.

if anyone could come up with any ideas on what other sort of dress i could wear to my prom,
i'd love it.

i'm chinese (rather tan though, so i'm always mistaken for being thai)
i'm about 160cm
and i'm uk size 6-8,

so here's this.

You can start with a pencil dress pattern, and modify the bodice.  You might want to put some boning in the bodice to make sure it holds the shape especially on the strapless side.  Your design looks very structured, so you'll probably want to use a stiffish fabric, and/or line it.
