"Head Spin" mini quilt

I made this for my partner in the Mini art quilt swap, which has produced some fantastic stuff from everyone. My partner just received so I'm safe to post now.

I totally love crazy patchwork and pieced the background by string piecing a load of red strips and then hacking it up and reassembling all the pieces with a few new strips thrown in here and there.
I've managed to accrue a ton of different reds and love to use every last tiny piece.It's really hard to get the colours to come out right. They don't look nearly as pink as in these pictures and the pale strips are a shiny but quite deep red. I tried with and without a flash but it just couldn't make it work.

This one is particularly annoyingly pink but give you the best image of the satin stitched appliqué (also shows up a few stray black threads I should have clipped a bit closer ).

I'm a naughty patchworker I throw in all kinds of fabric textures and weights, but in an art quilt your safe to do what you like. That's why I love 'em

I'm not really a huge fan of art quilts normally, but this is stellar! It's amazing. I'm sure your partner must be thrilled.

This is gorgoeus.  I love applique, and the design is really vibrant.

If you get the free irfanview (www.irfanview.com) it will adjust your colors, and you can pull the red slider to increase. Few functions, but may work for you. I just use an old Corel photopaint.

I just have to say I feel like a complete and total idiot!  I was browsing this board and saw this and went omg.

In looking at it I didn't turn directions (we'll blame the logical side of my brain) I didn't see the person until I saw your photos.  (now to go rehang it in the office the proper direction)
