INACTIVE - Altered Puzzle-along 2009-2010

I've been wanting to alter a puzzle ever since I organized the Puzzle ATC Swap.



I was thinking altering it with paper, embelishments, paintings, fabric drawing, anything really. We could even have weekly themes if anyone is interested, though you don't always have to go by the theme.

I bought a 25 piece kids puzzle at Dollar Tree today, it's about 10.25 in x 9.25 in, and what I like about it is that the pieces are still pretty big, almost half the size of an ATC. I'm going to alter each piece differently, and have my friends/family/(craftster's that I'm friends with) also alter some of my pieces, so it's not just my style, and when all the pieces are altered I'll either put it back together in a frame or I'm going to alter a box to put the pieces in and when I need some inspiration I'll take the pieces out and put the puzzle together.

That sounds interesting. Where to find a puzzle to alter? Hmm... I don't think I have any at home (that aren't too tiny for this endeavor).

Hmmmm... This is intriguing to me... I'd have to have some unifying something to the whole thing, so either theme or technique... I'll have to think... Maybe I could find a puzzle with around 26 pieces and do an alphabet set...

this is an awesome idea! i'll have to get a puzzle from the dollar store soon.
it would be really neat to get family and friends to participate. probably won't happen for me though haha

Here is my first altered piece! I love this painting, The Birth of Venus, and I had to use it for my first piece!

I have been wanting to try out ATC's and inchies and collecting ephemera to use since I started looking at this sight, I just haven't gotten around to it with all my other projects!  This sounds like an awesome idea, and I love some of the pieces I've seen in my stalking of the boards.

I have some blank puzzles I inherited from my mom when she retired from teaching.  I'll have to dig them out and see if they'd work.  I especially like the idea of having different people's work all combined on one piece that fits together, so a puzzle is perfect!

Maybe I could find a puzzle with around 26 pieces and do an alphabet set...

An alphabet one would be awesome!

I agree, it would be cool to have a theme, but alphabet is pretty open as long as you get all the letters in there.

Awesome! I really can't believe how many people have already shown their interest in this craft along, I was sure it would fall away quickly!

IF all the pieces are not there, you could always make pieces from the negative space with some cardboard.

i found it in a box when i moved, and kept finding pieces...must have spilled hahah
