if you haven't seen the movie and don't want to see screenshots from it, don't click any of these links!

as the subject suggests, i want to make a copy of narcissa's coat from when she goes to snape's house with bellatrix to ask for his help. for those who haven't seen it yet, i found a couple pictures:

that shawl looking thing actually turns into a hood. it's sort of hard to explain without pictures, but i can't find any better ones than the two i linked to. : / the hood is a couple inches longer than her head so there's sort of a brim sticking out over her forehead. from there, it falls straight down to right above where the buttons start.

i found the following pattern (http://www.voguepatterns.com/item/V1266.htm) which i could shorten and add godets between the current seams of the bottom to make it fuller, but i can't figure out how to make the hood. any thoughts?

You know how the middle, patterned version of the coat pattern you linked has just one, smooth collar? I bet if you used that you could lengthen it into some sort of normal hood...

I'm not sure how you would make the hood, but I think that's the part of the coat that stands out the most, that and the color of course. I remember thinking the coat was beautiful when I saw it in the movie. Good luck!

I did see the movie, but cant remember how the hood looks, but just looking at the shots above the hood looks like a large shawl collar, basically imagine a small shawl fastened to where the collar would go on a regular coat. You could perhaps stiffen the section of the collar that would be over the forehead with some interfacing or buckram, if you needed it to stand out more. I think the draped effect in the pictures is just how the collar is arranged on her shoulders.

Desperately in search of popcorn flavourings-they don't sell them here Sad I have a new air popper and am stuck with boring flavours.
