I couldn't decide whether to put this in cooking...but I couldn't see a cake section. I thought you guys would know this if anyone would! Baically I want to make a cake for my daughter...but refuse to buy a rip-off High School Musical one...however she'll be peeved if there's no "proper" pic of them on the cake....so...is there a way to make those transfers yourself at all? I've seen the companies online that will make them for you....but not much time for sending away and waiting for delivery...any ideas at all please?

I was wondering if you could use a paper crafts stamp with food colouring directly onto rolled out icing, then paint in the areas with a brush and more colouring?

This site lists several techniques for creating edible pictures for cakes:

The “buttercream transfer” method looks especially interesting to me.  It seems fairly simple and inexpensive.  I'd like to try that one some day.
