Hi all!

This is my first post, so I should probably introduce myself first. . . my name is Steph. I'm going into my last year at SUNY Plattsburgh,an anthro and photo major. I've been obsessively following this website since for at least 5 years and everyone's projects have been such a huge inspiration for me. I've tried my hand at sewing, knitting, crocheting, book-making, cooking, and many other odds and ends, all with varying results. Regardless of what I get though, I find the process to be so enjoyable (just something about those stressful late nights...) that I always come back to it.

I signed myself up for the ACC's Creating a New Craft Culture conference in Minneapolis in October because I'm hoping to write my thesis on this new craft culture. I've never been to Minneapolis so I thought that it would be great to try to meet up with someone for a coffee or something before or after (or during for any other attendees) the conference. The Friday and Saturday schedules seem pretty packed, and I'm not entirely sure when I'm getting in yet, but if anyone is around... There are also some tours they have set up through the conference, but I don't think I'll be able to make the extra $40-60 for them, so if anyone is interested in doing a little visiting and sight seeing on our own, I'd love the company!

Best,
Steph

ps: sorry for the confusion with my other post a few minutes ago (posted by blahwithnumbers). I accidentally created two accounts in my years of lurking and that one uses an email address that doesn't exist anymore.

Hey there! I may be attending this, too. We should definitely get together. I'd be happy to show you around!

Hi guys!

I'm so sorry for never getting back to you!!!!! I forgot entirely that I had posted this........  Embarrassed  It would have been so nice to meet you both!

Did either of you end up going to the conference? I was there, and I thought it was pretty interesting.....  I didn't know anything about the ACC going into it, so it was definitely an eye opening experience in that way.  If you did go, I'd love to hear what you thought of it all!

savagepixie: I made it into Crafty Planet and wandered around in a daze for about an hour...  it was there that I discovered I need some beautiful yarn in my life. I'm just learning to crochet, though, so I told myself that once I've made something successfully with the yarn I have, I'll invest. I think I think about that beautiful yarn every day..... you're so lucky to work there!

Sorry again for absentmindedness!

I actually didn't make it - too much going on.
Glad you had a good time, I heard good things about it.

So glad you had time to make it into Crafty Planet - it's a great, fun (and dangerous) place, haha!
