I'm fairly new here and this is my first actual topic, so i thought i'd post some picture some my coursework for my a levels both As and A2.

My As brief was a mix of traditional japanese design and current english fashion, all whist expressing individuality.  it consists of a pair of jeans in a very heavyweight stretch fabric, a kimono stlye bishops sleeve top and a underbust plastic boned corset so not a proper one. my friend alex is modeling this one.

although you cant really see it from the pictures because there are no close ups the bottom of the jeans unbutton at the sides.

My A2 project was for a company called From Somewhere, they asked me to design a cocktail dress that could be converted into swimwear, hence the ruchable side and the underpants. the fabric was given to me and it was all scraps because fromsomewhere is a pre-production recycling company, making the pattern was b*tch because of it especially since i barely had any of the red but i wanted to use this colour scheme (i neary changed it twice) there are concealed channels in the side that hold the chain that was one of the hardest parts. the dres doesn't completley fit my model but thats because the model it was made to fit flaked out last minute before i had to hand in my project and my friend Kati modelled for me as a favour in my garden.

i have such great friends lol Smiley

These are gorgeous!  I especially like the jeans with the buttons.  Also like the mix of colors.

Hi,

What an interesting concept, a cocktail dress to a swimsuit. Does the dress lift more to become less dress like? how is the shrug attached?

Even though you didn't have much red, it turned out great!

The dress does lift a fair amount more it can ruched right up and then the chain is tied underneath it to keep it up. the shrug is seperate and worn when it is being used as a cocktail dress. Thanks for your comment.

Both are very nice, but the dress.swimsuit is my favorite.  I love the blue stripe on the bottom and I think it looks like a ton of fun to wear Cheesy

Love the color scheme on the dress/swimsuit.  What a great concept.
