I made this lamp as a gift for my boyfriend.  It has slides from all the trips we have been on in the past years.  I didn't plan to make this until after the trips were over, so I found a website (IQ Imaging) that allows you to upload a digital image and they turn it into a slide!  Think of the possibilities.

Being a little obsessive... they are all horizontal images.  Instead of using jump rings to connect them i used a white ribbon that allows light to pass through. There is a small square of vellum on the back of each slide so the light bulb isn't visible.

Lesson learned: craft glue isn't strong enough.  I had to reattach some slides after we moved.  This time I used the handy E6000.

Enjoy!

I love your take on it. I made mine using pictures of my kids on all their ventures (zoo, pool, park, etc.) I lives in the Playroom now at their art/craft desk (Of COURSE my kids have their own art/craft desk!)

I Like how your ribbons give it a softer appeal. I'd like to try a chandelier-style one with a smaller diameter circle coming out the bottom, with your ribbon idea...

awesome! i just brought a bunch of slides home with me from my mom's to make a slide lamp but couldn't get large jumprings anywhere in the UK Tongue i'd love to try your ribbon idea (especially cause it looks like it involves no drilling?) can you explain the process of attaching the slides a bit more?
