I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet (I'm new to the board), but how about a weekly cook-along.  Maybe do it along the lines of Iron Chef style, where for a week there will be a featured ingredient and everyone who wants to join uses that in a recipe and posts the outcome and the recipe?  Does this sound like a good idea?

I think it would be a great idea.  There are many, many good cooks and bakers on here.

How many people do you think we need to get, and how should I start it, create a new thread.  I'm a newbie so I'm kinda touched in the head about these things.

I'm not too sure, I guess start a new post. Maybe just imitate the formats of the craft alongs?

So I'm thinking of starting this on Monday.  I think every cook-a-long should last two weeks.  So I guess post the special ingredient then give whoever wants to participate two weeks to use the ingredient and post the recipe and pictures if available.  Does that sound good?  How about some recommendations for a special ingredient?

This sounds like a great idea!  I would love to participate myself.  As for ingredients, I think we should pick something vegetarian/vegan so we can allow more people to participate.  We probably want to start off with something pretty easy to find too but still interesting.

My friends and I once did a sweet potato iron chef battle and I was amazed how creative my friends were.

Well this will work out to two a month.  I think one period should be vegan, but the other should be open to anything.  This way vegans will be given a chance to participate every month, but the other one will open up the culinary field to anything.
