Oh how I love turtles!  Last year and this year turtle fabrics have been popular.  I did an outfit last year with green and brown fabric that is probably one of my favorite creations.  So when I saw this new fabric at Joanns I went crazy!  I had to do it again!

I love the color combo on this one.  Bright blue, orange, light green, dark red and creme.  I used buttons and ric rac to add interest and appliqued a turtle on the back leg.  Didn't get a good shot of that.

I figured the zoo would be the perfect place for Nyla to wear it.  Her B-day was Monday so we headed to the zoo.  I did bows to match and i thought it would be fun to have her wear 2 different color shoes since she had green, orange and blue sandals all the same style.  Too bad she doesn't have 3 feet!  It was funny to see other kids stopping and staring at her and her mismatch shoes!

On another note.....I see people on this forum try their hands at patchwork twirls all the time and it amazes me how people think they need to cut itty bitty 4 inch squares.  TOO MUCH WORK!  All of mines use 8 at the least but typically 10 inch rectangles, and they look fine!  It's enough work ruffling, pinning, stitching, serging and topstitching the tiers, so I'm definitely not putting up with teeny squares!  Just a little tip!

HERES THE OLD ONE!

This is so many types of cute, I don't know where to begin! (The sassy model certainly seems to enjoy it, too!)

The fabric is adorable, the style is whimsical ... it's just awesome!! Great work! Smiley

I want an outfit like that in my size! super cute! I love the shoes too. Who needs to match anyways? and of course there are turtles which just make everything better being my favorite animal. I've all ready warned hubby that our future children no matter what sex will be decked out in turtles any chance I get. enough with the frogs all ready bring on the turtles! lol

Very cute. I like the color combination on the first one. I took your advice on the patchwork dresses, you are right. the last few that I have done I cut rectangles that were about 7-9 inches long, and it looked just fine with half of the work.

Your dresses are always so adorable! I love the style with the elastic back, but I have the world's pickiest 5 year old. She will not wear anything involving elastic or too much ruffling.... it makes me crazy!
