This summer I'm sewing a new outfit every week and writing about it on my blog. This week I made a skirt and a tank top out of recycled clothes. I made the tank top from my dad's old turtle-neck sweater, and I made the skirt from an XXL men's button down shirt I got at goodwill. I made that necklace too.

For the skirt, instead of sewing up the armholes, I turned them into the pockets. I just sewed some lining out of material from the sleeves. It closes with a zipper in the back, where the buttons used to be.

Let me know if you have any questions. Here's a link to the specific blog post where I discuss this outfit -- http://makeshiftchic.blogspot.com/2009/07/recycled-plaid.html. Thanks for looking!

These look great, I'd never guess they were made from old clothes.

I looove the skirt, but the whole outfit looks great.  Definately storing the armholes to pockets idea.

Awesome outfit!  My salvation army is having a sale - every clothing item is $1.  I'm going to go shopping with some ideas now!
