A few weeks back, I replied to someone's post of what to do with flat fold diapers she had lying around, and didn't want to just get rid of.  Since I've always used the flat fold one's, I know how quickly they get soaked by spit up, so I've been thinking along the same lines of what could I do with all my flat folds to make them better for this next baby??  Here's what I came up with.  Nothing fancy...

I ironed them all to make them as flat and rectangular as possible.  Then I folded them the same way the pre folded diapers are.  The centers are then three layers thick and the outside is only one layer thick which I didn't like.  So, I sewed the fold lines down...making them look much like pre fold diapers, only thinner, then I found some old white flannel receiving blankets in my stash and cut them to go on one side of the folded flat diaper.  Make sense??   I sewed right sides together, turned, top stitched around the sides, then sewed back down the fold lines on the diaper so they wouldn't bunch up inside.  I am pretty happy with the turnout.  This would obviously cost nothing if you have some flannel already in your stash...Let me know what you think!!

A view of the sewn flat fold diaper before there is flannel on the back.

A view of the side with flannel...not the white receiving blanket flannel...

The white completed one and the weird floral one...

Folded up and looking pretty... Smiley

C/C welcome!

I've done something similar but instead of adding the flannel in a strip I appliqued a different flannel animal on each diaper. I wonder if I have any pictured of those lying around, they were a present for a friend who's baby shower was last year...
