I've kissed alot of frogs - only found 1 prince

I decided yesterday that I wanted to challenge myself to make something I wouldn't normally make.  I became very inspired by a bag of scraps from a number of projects I've worked on lately.  I typically have a very difficult time making things in the "DIY" style.

Comments appreciated you can read more about the purse and see additional photos on my blog Scrappy Purse Blog post

no real tutorial (most my 'inspired' projects I can't stop and take photos during or I loose my mojo)  essentially just take some interfacing (fusible) and sketch the shape/size you want on the non fusible side & cut two out, then take your scraps and start sewing them onto the interfacing (overlapping on the edges)  Trim the scraps to the shape of the purse panels and then sew it up as though you were using any fabric that was 'whole' to start.

For the pocket I just did a welted pocket and added a zipper.  to keep to the breaking all my 'assumed' rules I just sewed the lining side to the face and ensured it was big enough to cover the zipper (and hold my cell phone)

You could use it to make pretty much anything or any style of purse, would be real fun as a messenger bag I think Smiley

This is an awesome idea! And yours looks really cool, the colors and patterns work well together! I've been wanting to make myself a new purse lately, but can't decide what color... I should totally try something like this! Smiley

I just love this bag.  I have a lot of scraps too, and this is such a great use for them.

I saw on your blog that the appliqu has frayed edges...do the strips of fabric pieces also have frayed edges, or did you tuck the edges under before sewing the pieces to the interfacing?

Thanks for the inspiration!
