I made these Golden Snitch nipple pasties for myself to wear to the midnight opening of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince next week. Cheesy
These are my first pasties, they took me two days to make. The wings were bought appliques, but I beaded everything else by hand. There are small gold beads in swirls between the rows of sequins to make the spiral patterns of the snitch.

I usually wear a standard gryffindor outfit; a tie over a white shirt, grey skirt with gryffindor colours trim, and a gryffindor scarf. My plan is to wear the pasties under my white shirt and unbutton onstage at the costume contest for a big reveal. Wink

Update:

I won second place in the costume contest! I now own a light up-noise-making wand and gt a free pass to the theatre (which I used to see HBP again yesterday). The owl beside me won first. Somebody started yelling "Hooters vs Tits!" when we got to the final three! XD
I don't think most of the crowd really got that they were golden snitches, I didn't get the chance to say it into the mike like I wanted to and it was probably a bit hard to see.

It was hard for my girlfriend to get a decent picture of me with the shirt open since I was doing a little dance and closing my shirt again quickly, so here is the best one.

Those are so spectacular! I really love the way you patterned the sequins and beads to get that spiral pattern. I also think that golden snitch pasties are possibly the BEST way to dress up for a midnight showing of Harry Potter. It makes me want to make something special for the show!

You should get a white shirt with snaps instead of buttons, they come open really well in a "superman" move, instead of buttons where people would be like "is she undressing? what?"
The pasties themselves are pretty great, I love the swirling on them and the cute little wings Smiley

I like penguins, stars, rainbows and blue.
If your project has any of these, don't be surprised to see me post in it! Cheesy

Lol, those are so great.  The swirly sequins must have taken forever to do.  You should totally get someone to take pics at the costume contest.

Thanks for all the nice comments! Cheesy
I took your advice and bought a white shirt with snaps and altered it to fit me. I still need a new skirt, the thrift stores disappointed me by not having any grey pleated skirts. I'll get that tomorrow morning and hopefully have time to add the great gryffindor colours trim I have.
The swirly sequins did take a long time, but I used the sequins that come as a string. It was a lot quicker and easier than sewing on every individual sequin. I just tacked it down every five sequins or so and filled in any gaps with loose sequins.
I hope that I can get good photos at the event, but it will be pretty dark, so I'll also take some photos beforehand of my outfit with and without shirt open. Wink
