This is perfect! I'm looking to make a scrap bag for the sewing machine area too - and I love the look of this!  I might put rice/sand in a bag and add it into the bottom to give it some weight... not sure where to find emory sand.  Sad  I think I want the weight more than the 'pin sharpening' component anyway.  Am I wrong though? My Grandma always said it was good to have them in the cushion with the emory sand... IDK.

I've seen emery for sale on etsy, http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=20678225&ref=sr_gallery_1&&ga_search_query=emery+&ga_search_type=supplies&ga_page=&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title ,  can get a bit pricey, $8 + $5 shipping for one cup, but then again how many pincushions are you making with 1 cup of it.  You only need a small amount to sharpen your pins and needles, kwim.

Hello,

I can give you more information about Emery Grain. Dear Cheyenneswthrt07 found my store. Emery grain is very heavy. 1 cup is fill snack size Ziploc, more than a pound. I use 1/4 cup emery for 3" diameter and 1/2" height pincushions. Another tip for to sew best Emery pincushion is you have to use an inner liner.

You can buy Emery powder, sand, grain from my web page www.nakpunar.com . It's cheaper over there from my etsy store. If you have any question you can send me an e-mail.

Nil
