I made this for my swap partner in the Small Destash/Buy Nothing Swap.  The challenge of the swap was like it said:  Buy Nothing! you have to use what you already had in your supplies.

After doing a bit of cyber/Craftster stalking of my partner, I found that she really liked owls. I recalled that I had this really cool "night sky" sort of glass and that awesome brown/black/orange/white glass and the idea was born.

What you can't tell from the picture is that the lighter colored glass around his eyes is not soldered INTO the piece.  I layered on it on top, glued it down for stability then soldered it to the center and then tinned the outer edges.  Then I layered the iridescent, glass blob eyes on top of that.  Sort of a 3D effect, if you will.

I packaged him the best that I could for his trip to his new home in Sweden.  But sadly along the way, my swap partner tells me that he got a teeny tiny crack down on the right side near the branch.   Cry  She said it's hardly noticeable.

I doubt I would've ever made an owl for myself....but found this to be really fun!  I might have to make a few more.

Thanks for looking!  Hope you like him too!

He looks very cute! I love the 3d accenting used for his eyes!   Grin

Do you remember the size of the panel?

Thanks everyone for the kind comments! I appreciate it!

Devilxkat:  I think it was about 12-13 inches across the diameter.
