Hi,

And one last thing I can show you Smiley

I started out doing embroidery (and getting hooked *g) with some cross stitch embroideries.
After that I wanted to learn some more techniques for doing embroidery and decided to do some "free" embroidery.

I chose a picture I liked and made a pattern from it.
I traced it on the cloth by stitching the outlining through tracing paper, then took the paper off and filled in the body and the knotwork.

At the end I made this stag and I was really happy with the result Smiley

I used satin stitch (all yellow parts), bayeux-stitch (brown) and convent-stitch (green).

And here the full story in German Wink http://betweentimes.blogr.ws/tag/hirsch/

thanks for looking,
Gerah Smiley

Thank you very much for your comments Smiley

It took me about two month in total, but I had a break of some weeks in between because I was ill, so I can't say for sure how long it took.
I started worlking on it in Feburary last year and finished it in mid April Smiley

This stag is so awesome! My jaw dropped when I saw it the first time, as Gerah's beginner project on needlework (did I mention she is insanely talented? Grin), and I still think it is beautiful and extremely well done. What a lovely and inspiring piece of art.

Thank you so much Smiley
But I do have troubles to get things right sometimes, I don't know how often I had to undo things of my favour to get it like it is now and it wasn't different with any other technique I've learned.
And I am always inspired by what other people do Smiley
