This is a gift for my cousin's five-year-old daughter. My 4-year-old son named him Spindley, and according to him, he is from Africa and likes to eat chips (not fish), ants and chocolate bars.
The pattern is from "Toys to Sew" by Claire Garland, though I did not follow her directions to cut out 19 2-inch octagons and sew them together to make the top of the shell! Instead, I strip pieced a bunch of fabrics, cut them apart and sewed them into a little (square) patchwork. MUCH EASIER. I also used the cutting line as my sewing line for the feet, head and tail to make them a bit wider because I thought they all seemed a little too skinny.

Two of my projects were chosen as Craftster Best of 2008! More tutorials at my blog: Stitch/Craft Creations

Okay so once again I am completely redoing my pictures. Got tired of photobucket, the only reason I used it was for here so I decided I will just use Craftster's photo uploader. So while I am switching over my photo links will be broken. Message me if there is a post you would like the pics for.
