So my vacation is on its way! 6 weeks until the best and worst time of my year.  Last year I didn't even put on my swimsuit.  Simply, I have a two year old and 30 extra pounds.  Granted... 30 lbs lighter I still wore the mom skirt swim suit.  But now I feel worse... I was wondering if anyone had any idea's to share.  I'm gonna rock the womens board shorts definetly.  And I want a plain black tankini... but here's the thing, I refuse to show my upper arms.  Out of water, in water.  Naked arms is not an option.  What should I do without looking ridiculous?  I was thinking of attaching some non-stretch fishnet as sleeves.. but how bad would that look on a beach as a flabby-bodied swimsuit?  My first idea was to use a contrasting color to make partial sleeves but with the shoulder exposed.  If you can picture that.  I also want to use material or fishnet to cover the cleavage area.  That skin isn't pretty either.  I need help... I don't want to just watch my son play in the water this year... agian...

Thanks

I don't know how easy this would be to replicate but I found this swimsuit.

You could also do a surf shirt, it's just a close fitted T-shirt with short sleeves, popular here in California with the surfer crew. LIke this, also how cute are those skorts.

That last link actually gave me a great insperation!  I like how the Baseball sleeve makes it look more... swimy, sporty... Just a different neckline though.. Thanks!

I like the idea of fishnet sleeves! You can get stretchy mesh that looks like a small fishnet, which I've never personally seen at Fabricland, but I know it exists because I've owned two shirts that used it, and seen a few craftsters make use of it, too.

That first link is pretty rad looking!

Here are some I found online that are nice too...

I'm not sure about the fishnet idea though...I'm just not sure it would look good as sleeves.  Maybe across the bustline though!  Although, might make for funky tank lines...

I really like this one (below) .....I'm sure it would be easy to find a wrap shirt pattern and sew it up in lycra.  You could buy a lycra bra to wear under it too for good support if needed.

Thanks, I really like the last link!  I ended up with scraps from thrifted swimtops and pieced something together, still without sleeves, so back to the basic of yesteryears of cropping a hoodie into a shrug and wearing that into the water...
Yeah I had thought of those odd fishnet tan lines.. but I was kind of interested to see the outcome of many a tanning days... since I never show my arms anyway... buuuut back to the basics it shall be this year.. maybe next year i'll be more on the ball... or the treadmill!  lol!  Thanks everyone!
